The economic meltdown over the recent years had a disastrous effect on the poorest in society, particularly vulnerable children in Africa who have suffered the brunt of it all.
Breakdown of social structure in some poverty-stricken societies has seen an influx of very young children on the streets, left alone to fend for themselves. Scavenging in rubbish dumps, being trafficked, used for slave labour among other things on top of which is the lack of adult or parental guidance is brewing a lost generation. Children as young as 3 are addicted to glue sniffing as a means of getting away from the constant hunger and deprivation.
It is with these in mind that we chose to support the work of Street Child Africa, a charity whose sole purpose is to work directly with children living in street situations in Africa. The charity currently works in 7 countries in Africa including Ghana and Nigeria.
We are grateful for your continued support in raising £2,000.00 for Street Child Africa.
