    Another chance to give back

Blog-another-chanceWe continue our sojourn on the road this year with a view to reaching out to underpriviledged children.

LifeBikers Bike Ride 2010 ride takes off on Friday, 4th of June through Sunday, 6th of June 2010. As we have done in the past, Tola Obembe is expected to fly into London on Thursday from Lagos, Nigeria, same day as Essay Folami from Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

    It's that time again…

blog-planningBoy, how time flies! It's been 4 years since our last bike ride but it just feels like 4 months. Just the other day, I saw a documentary on Street Children in Africa and I felt quite moved to see how children from babies upwards are left to fend for themselves on the streets due to all sorts of social and economic issues. It's quite sad to see how these children have been failed by society and the system in general.

  • Just 12 months to the next ride

Blog-abiIt's the BIG one! Bike Ride 2012, our longest ride yet. Cape Town to Johannesburg seemed like a great idea till I checked the route out in Google. WOW! 1,400 kilometres, 2,800 kilometres return! … We haven't even factored in the traditional "where did hell are we?" moments into it either.

All the same, I'm aready looking forward to it and can't wait to raise even more for good causes.

  • Just 3 more weeks to go

blog-weeks2goWe've got barely three weeks before D-Day and it's getting really exciting! Thanks to our supporters, we've gone a third towards our target but still well short of it.

We're still optimistic all the same and are already focussed for the trip. The weather still feels quite cold and I hope it warms up soon enough for the ride.

  • London to Rome – the BIG ONE!

Blog-abiLifebikers' planned ride from Cape Town to Johannesburg had to be postponed last year due to various activies that went on over the summer. This meant we couldn't coordinate diaries and had to reluctantly reschedule it for another year.

To make up for it, we're doing the BIG ONE! London – Rome – London, 2,200 miles round trip in 4 days! New date is summer 2013 and we can't wait.

We'll be counting on your support to make this our biggest fundraising ever.

  • Thanks for your support!

blog-HOGlory-babyIt's almost a month since the launch of our new website and I'm feeling really exited about the response we're getting so far.

Many thanks to all who have sent messages and our heart-felt appreciation to donors who have begun to send in their contributions.

There's just two months to go and still a lot to do. We're very optimistic all the same that your support will get us through. THANKS!!

    Time to Go!

blog-time-to-goReally, it is time to go on the road again! Too many underprivileged to be reached out to in so many a way, but for the LifeBikers, going on the road with families, friends, colleagues and the general public in their support, it's time to go biking for the sole purpose of succor.

The seed of the idea to get on our bikes was sown during our volunteering stint for Crisis UK Christmas 2009 last December. With Tola and myself in town, Abi seized the opportunity and got us back on the GO!

  • We shall set forth at dawn!

Essay FolamiTomorrow at dawn, we set forth on yet another Bike Ride, the 2010 LifeBikers Ride. A-800-mile trip from London to Luxembourg.Words are not enough to express our profound gratitude for the support and donations. Now, it's excitement time. Essay is in, Tola almost touching down at Heathrow, and then we set forth...
